Scrap aluminum wound electric motors are electric motors that have aluminum windings inside of the unit. An easy way to identify whether or not the windings are copper or aluminum is to scratch the winding. If it appears copper in color after the coating has been scratched off of it the material will be copper, if it appears to be silver then the winding is probably aluminum.
